Privacy Policy.

1. Who I am

Carsmenskii is an independent car-buying service operated by David Kamenskii in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When this policy says "we", "us", "our", or "Carsmenskii", that's who I mean. My website is carsmenskii.com and my contact email is david@carsmenskii.com.

This policy is governed by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

2. What information I collect

The information I collect depends on how you interact with me.

When you book a call

• Your name, email address, and timezone (provided through Cal.com when you pick a slot)
• Any notes you choose to share about the car you're considering or the help you're looking for

When you buy a digital product

• Your name and email address (collected by Stripe at checkout)
• Payment details, which are processed and stored by Stripe. I never see or store your credit-card number.

When you subscribe to The Carsmenskii Brief

• Your email address (and optionally your first name)

When you engage me as a matchmaking client

• The information you give me through the questionnaire and our calls — typically: your driving habits, garage situation, family setup, budget, current and prior cars, and the things you've sworn you'll never compromise on
• Any documents you share with me (financing pre-approvals, trade-in info, etc.)

When you visit the website

My static pages do not place cookies on your device and do not run analytics tracking. My hosting provider (and the CDNs that serve my images and fonts) may log standard request data — IP address, browser type, page requested, time of request — for security and operational purposes.

3. Why I collect it

I use the information you provide for the following purposes:

• To deliver the service you requested. A shortlist, a call, a downloadable PDF, a newsletter issue.
• To communicate with you. Reply to your emails, schedule calls, send purchase confirmations, deliver the newsletter you signed up for.
• To improve the service. If I notice a question coming up across multiple clients, I might write a journal post about it (without identifying anyone).
• To meet legal obligations. Tax records, accounting, anti-fraud — the usual obligations any small Canadian business has.

I do not use your information for behavioural advertising. I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

4. Third-party services I use

I rely on a small number of trusted third-party tools to actually run the business. Each handles its own data under its own privacy policy.

• Cal.com — for the 15-minute booking calendar. Their privacy policy.
• Buttondown — for the email newsletter. Their privacy policy.
• Stripe — for payment processing on digital-product purchases. Their privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — for typefaces. Fonts are served as static files; no cookies are set.

These services may host data outside Canada, including in the United States. By using my service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those jurisdictions, subject to their respective privacy frameworks.

5. Cookies and tracking

Carsmenskii.com itself does not set cookies on your device. I do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking tools.

Embedded third-party tools (the Cal.com booking iframe, the Stripe checkout when you buy a product) may set cookies inside their own domains — these are necessary for the service to function. If I add analytics in the future, I'll choose a privacy-friendly tool that does not set tracking cookies, and I'll update this policy.

6. How long I keep your information

• Booking and consultation notes: for the duration of my engagement plus three years (for tax and continuity).
• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
• Customer purchase records: retained by Stripe according to their policy and my own records, in line with Canadian tax record-keeping requirements (six years).
• Email correspondence: retained at my discretion; you can ask me to delete a thread at any time.

7. Your rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information I hold about you
• Access that information and receive a copy
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent and request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

To exercise any of these rights, email david@carsmenskii.com with "privacy request" in the subject line. I respond within 30 days, usually within one business day.

8. Security

I use industry-standard practices for a small business: TLS for all web traffic, password-protected accounts on every third-party service, and an audited list of who has access to what. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and I can't guarantee absolute security — but I treat your information with the same care I'd want for mine.

If I ever experience a data breach that affects your information, I'll notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

9. Children

My services are not directed to anyone under 18. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has submitted information to me, please email me and I'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time as my services or applicable laws change. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, I'll notify newsletter subscribers by email.
